Get the PDF cheat sheet here: https://www.bestpianoclass.com/6-best-chord-progressions-opt-in

What’s up my piano friends! Today we’re going to go over the 6 BEST chord progressions for piano beginners. Trust me, this is the easiest tutorial out there. If you can follow simple instructions on a cheat sheet you can learn this stuff no problem. Here are the 6 progressions (named for the emotion they give off):

TOP 6 CHORD PROGRESSIONS:
1. The “Catchy”
2. The “Emotional”
3. The “Road Trip”
4. The “Evil”
5. The “Somber”
6. The “Sinister”

Oh, and what’s even better, is we use a concept called Chord Stacking to make this EVEN easier! So basically once you learn the first chord progression, we simply “stack” the chords in different orders and transpositions to create the other 5 with zero extra effort on your part.

Sounds too good to be true, but trust me, you’ll see what I mean in the video 🙂

Oh, and MAKE SURE YOU STICK AROUND TO THE END!! We’ll be covering the top 3 “Money Patterns” you can use to really bring these chord progressions to life. I use these ALL the freakin time lol and they work wonders.

And lastly, I’d love to hear from you. Leave a comment and let me know what you thought of the video, if it helped you or if you got stuck somewhere. And make sure you download the cheat sheet it’ll make the whole process 10X easier:

3 Easy R&B Chord Progressions

Piano Learning No Comments »

I’m finally breaking down some easy to learn R&B chord progressions. These progressions are great for music producers and anyone trying to get better at playing R&B music. Let me know if you all want more content like this. Thanks for watching!

If you love chords and want to get better, then check out our free Chord Hack series here:

If you’re playing or writing a song, how do you know what chords will fit together in a chord progression to sound good?

If I’m playing C-G-Am-F, can I play a D Major chord?

It turns out there are actually some really useful ways to know what chords will work together. It’s not a strict rule, but more of a starting point.

They’re called Diatonic Chords.

Now I have a confession to make. I’ve been playing the piano since I was nine-years-old. But I only learned about diatonic chords THIS YEAR!

I figured if I didn’t know what they were for so long, then chances are other people might not either.

It turns out diatonic chords is just a fancy name for something SUPER SIMPLE! But it’s really useful for understanding different keys and how to play chords and songs in those keys.

Put simply, diatonic chords are all the chords that naturally occur inside a certain key. They only use the notes found within that key (or scale).

Let’s take C Major as an example. C Major has only white keys. So every chord you play in the key of C will have only white keys. A C will be C-E-G – easy right? Then up a note will be D-F-A, making it a D minor. So D minor is a diatonic chord of C. You can then work your way up the scale, still only playing white notes.

Check out the timecodes for a breakdown of the lesson!

What are diatonic chords? – 0:48

How is this useful? – 2:15

Try it in another key – 2:36

Practice tips – 3:48

A simple and efficient method to construct ANY major & minor chord on the piano.

Sign up for MORE awesome content at http://www.pianopig.com

In this piano tutorial, we look at an easy method to build major and minor chords. The idea is to count the notes in half-steps. Doing this allows us to count the notes between each note.

For example, a major chord plays the root note, skips 3 notes, plays the next note, skips 2 notes and plays the next note. So the first skip is 3 and the second skip is 2. Therefore we can call major chords “3-2” chords. This applies to ALL major chords.

To construct a minor chord we need to reverse this, so we need to play a “2-3” chord. An easy way to remember this is because the first skip of the minor chord is small, and minor & small can mean a similar thing.

Learn 4 Chords – Quickly Play Hundreds of Songs! [EASY VERSION]

Piano Learning No Comments »

Get the Free PDF’s and Course here: https://bestpianoclass.pages.ontraport.net/newsuperhuman

What’s up my piano friends! Today we’re going to go over 4 simple chords you can use even as a beginner to play hundreds of popular songs on piano. Now, this is the simple, easy piano version. You could learn this in anywhere from one day to a week. Literally most beginner’s I’ve taught have learned this thing in about 3 days!

We’re going to simplify it by using some Music Theory Hacks – Don’t worry, you won’t have to understand exactly how they work. Just like you don’t need to understand electricity to use a light switch, you can just use these chords without understanding any of the advanced theory behind them.

So first off, I’m going to show you the exact NOTES of the chords. Next (THIS IS IMPORTANT) we’re going to go over the SYSTEM to learning them. A lot of beginner piano players don’t drill in the chords properly, and they end up frustrated and annoyed when it comes out sloppy, or when they can’t get hands together. But we’re going to eliminate that frustration by drilling it in step-by-step and using some techniques and strategies meant to solidify it into your muscle memory (like “The Four Rhythms!”)

And lastly, we’re going to talk about how to use “Money Patterns” and “Money Variations” to take this pattern to the next level – basically, these are simple variations in rhythm and timing we can easily learn withOUT changing the notes themselves. And it can give you a great way to spice up this chord progression when you use it in actual songs.

Oh, and sidenote: learning this can also help you start to develop some basic improv skills… so it’s like a 2 for 1!

Make sure you download the cheat sheet here to get started:

I use this chord progression ALL the time when I compose. And guess what? So do a TON of other composers! Why?

Because it’s VERY versatile. As you’ll see in the video this one chord progression can be used to convey a number of different emotions (emotional, catchy, motivational, sad, ect). And it always just seems to have a “magical” quality to it.

Now… why do I recommend it for beginners? First off, this progression is used in a TON of songs since it’s so popular. That means by just learning ONE progression and really working it you already have a bunch of songs under your belt. So it’s a great “bang for your buck” in terms of the usefulness you get out of it for the practice time you put in.

Also, by making a few simple changes (chord variations and substitutions) you can “modify” this chord progression into a ton of similar-but-different chord progressions very easily. As you’ll see in the video, we’re going to come up with 5 other similar chord progressions VERY easily just by changing the order or slightly modifying one of the chords. But you’ll see more in the video.

Oh, and did I mention it’s also VERY easy to improvise over (even if you’re a beginner!) If you stick around to the end of the video you’ll see because of the way this progression’s set up, with a little very simple music theory we can make improvising a breeze. And then we can add a few “money notes” to spice things up even more.

Enjoy the video! If you liked this one, you’ll probably also like my video on the very simple Jazz chord progression that’s ALSO easy to improv over. Here’s the link to that video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xmYHB8IBpnA&index=15&list=PLXufPPxby9p66nomvGcar6eebbwVJCC_C

🌟Comment:
In this EASIEST PIANO TUTORIAL you can learn HOW TO PLAY Hallelujah for beginners by Leonard Cohen.

🌟Fun fact:
Leonard Norman Cohen, CC GOQ (September 21, 1934 – November 7, 2016) was a Canadian singer, songwriter, musician, poet, novelist, and painter. His work mostly explored religion, politics, isolation, sexuality, and personal relationships. Cohen was inducted into both the Canadian Music Hall of Fame and the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame as well as the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He was a Companion of the Order of Canada, the nation’s highest civilian honor. In 2011, Cohen received one of the Prince of Asturias Awards for literature and the ninth Glenn Gould Prize.

Cohen pursued a career as a poet and novelist during the 1950s and early 1960s, and did not launch a music career until 1967, at the age of 33. His first album, Songs of Leonard Cohen (1967), was followed by three more albums of folk music: Songs from a Room (1969), Songs of Love and Hate (1971) and New Skin for the Old Ceremony (1974). His 1977 record Death of a Ladies’ Man was co-written and produced by Phil Spector, which was a move away from Cohen’s previous minimalist sound. In 1979, Cohen returned with the more traditional Recent Songs, which blended his acoustic style with jazz and Oriental and Mediterranean influences. “Hallelujah” was first released on Cohen’s studio album Various Positions in 1984. I’m Your Man in 1988 marked Cohen’s turn to synthesized productions and remains his most popular album. In 1992, Cohen released its follow-up, The Future, which had dark lyrics and references to political and social unrest.

Cohen returned to music in 2001 with the release of Ten New Songs, which was a major hit in Canada and Europe. His eleventh album, Dear Heather, followed in 2004. After a successful string of tours between 2008 and 2010, Cohen released three albums in the final four years of his life: Old Ideas (2012), Popular Problems (2014) and You Want It Darker (2016), the last of which was released three weeks before his death.

🌟Lyrics:
Well I heard there was a secret chord
That David played and it pleased the Lord
But you don’t really care for music, do you?
Well it goes like this: the fourth, the fifth
The minor fall and the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah
Hallelujah [x4]

Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you
She tied you to her kitchen chair
She broke your throne and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah
Hallelujah [x4]

Baby I’ve been here before
I’ve seen this room and I’ve walked this floor (you know)
I used to live alone before I knew you
And I’ve seen your flag on the marble arch
And love is not a victory march
It’s a cold and it’s a broken Hallelujah
Hallelujah [x4]

There was a time when you let me know
What’s really going on below
But now you never show that to me, do you?
But remember when I moved in you
And the holy dove was moving too
And every breath we drew was Hallelujah
Hallelujah [x4]

Maybe there’s a God above
All I’ve ever learned from love
Was how to shoot somebody who outdrew you
And it’s not a cry that you hear at night
It’s not somebody who’s seen the light
It’s a cold and it’s a broken Hallelujah
Hallelujah [x13]

Alright here’s an easy jazz piano progression for beginners. And when I say I bet you a million dollars you could play it, I mean it! As long as you follow the exact steps I outline in the video.

It’s basically a specific chord progression that LOOKS a lot harder than it is to play, but once you get the hang of it, it’s VERY easy to improv over, even if you’re a beginner.

And yes, this is somewhat of a “piano trick”. In other words, I’m not teaching the in-depth theory behind it, but it’s a great intro into Jazz and Improvising. Every exercise can be done in the right hand, the left hand and BOTH HANDS TOGETHER so your left and right hand coordination will go through the roof!

Oh and did I mention… By the end of the video you WILL be able to play your very first chord progression!

As always I put a lot of thought into how these exercises build in layers so…

1:00 – First we look at moving the fingers as a scale. Moving up and down the notes evenly. This develops strength and smoothness in the playing.

4:12 – Secondly we look at a similar exercise but using arpeggios, or broken chords. This is amazing because now we venture into the realm of actual music. (Think someone like you by Adele)

6:27 – Third, we look at a simple triad (chord) and work on a few ways we can keep a steady rhythm going. This is great for developing your sense of timing.

8:22 – The fourth exercise takes this chord and shifts it around to different positions on the keyboard to create a really nice chord progression. This will be your first piece of actual music!

11:13 – And lastly, we take the chord progression from exercise four and play it slightly differently to give you some variety and develop your left and right hand coordination!
